THIS WEEK'S VIDEO: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN'T DANCE?
Hey Salsa Students
Guess what? There was a time in every salsa dancer's life when they could not dance. They did not know how to move their feet properly. They didn't know any steps. Nothing.
There was a time when I could not dance salsa. Some of you already know that my first lesson was at a club. I was meeting a date and didn't know a single salsa step. The night went terrible. I spent the whole time watching other people dance with my date. I remember telling myself from that point on that I was going to learn how to dance salsa.
Why am I telling you this? Because I want you to know that you don't need to have a special talent or gift in order to learn how to dance. Even one of the greatest salsa dancers of all time was once awkward with his feet. His name is Eddie Torres and he began to learn how to dance after failing to impress a date. Now Eddie is considered by the world to be the Mambo King and a legendary dancer. Just watch this video and you will see why!
I understand that not everyone is going to become a salsa legend like Eddie but if you are reading this e-mail, you at least want to have confidence and be good on the dance floor.
It doesn't take much to get good. The hardest part for many people is stepping out of their comfort zone and spending some time in a salsa class. If you can do this, you'll begin to feel a huge difference even after just six classes.
Have you ever watched people who are good at dancing and the way they always look like they are having soo much fun? Well guess what? They are! It's a lot of fun to be able to dance. Once you can feel the moves and feel the music, it is a absolutely freeing experience.
